So as we packed out overnight bags to head to NYC to see Otis Taylor and Eric Lindell we were reminded that there was a show at the Apollo that Friday. Well, I love these all-star get togethers’ but man gimme a band that cooks it up just right and I am all in.
What was great about this night was that we got to chat with Otis and band members, including surprise guests Shawn Starski (guitar) who has played with Jason Ricci, Kelley Hunt and has his own release out, Chuck Campbell from the Campbell Brothers from our current city Rochester – master of the sacred steel – and man I don’t know how Otis does it but these cats fits like a tight meow on a hot summer’s night.
Just a great show with lots of energy – the regular band, Anne Harris, Larry Thompson, Todd Edmunds exceptional as always. The audiance was thrilled and many were surprised at what they heard, which is good for the Blues and keeps it alive and thriving.
Thank you to the entire band, Joe K, James, Keith, Diane, Marty, Leo and all others who hung with us and partied like it was 2012 !
Until next time,
Love, Peace & Chicken Grease
