Tax return: taxpayers can electronically verify their returns in 6 different ways

Last update of the income tax return: As many taxpayers have already filed their tax returns and many still do, it’s a good time for everyone to check their ITRs. Taxpayers should note that the final process of filing a tax return is to verify it. In accordance with income tax laws, if the user does not verify the tax return within 120 days of downloading it, it will be invalid. However, there are 6 different ways to verify a return: one physical medium and five electronic media.   1. OTP on mobile number registered with Aadhaar
  2. EVC generated via your pre-validated bank account
  3. EVC generated via your pre-validated demat account
  4. EVC via ATM (offline method)
  5. Net banking
  6. Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)

After completing the electronic return verification process, a success message will appear with a transaction ID. Or, you will also receive an email on your email id registered with the e-Filing portal once your electronic verification process is successful. For taxpayers who have not yet filed their income tax return (ITR), the deadline to do so is December 31, 2021.
