At the 79th Annual General Meeting 2022-23 (AGM) of the Income Tax Practitioners Association (ITPA), Amritsar, lawyer Vinod Mahajan was elected its new chairman on Saturday.
The AGM was chaired by CA Pankaj Khaneja. The association has about 400 members, including chartered accountants, lawyers, and the income tax business fraternity. Vinod Mahajan said they would work to streamline various income tax and GST due dates.
“The deadline for filing unaudited tax returns is July 31, while the government did not update relevant records for filing tax returns until June 10. Additionally, the filing form of the partnership statement was not issued until the end of June We will be asking the government to allow sufficient time for taxpayers so that the proper tax returns can be filed and that there is no messy assessment of statements,” he said.
Gaurav Aggarwal, Secretary General, Income Tax Association, Amritsar, said his main objective was to conduct seminars on direct tax issues, represent the Indian government for required changes in tax direct tax and to build a harmonious relationship between the members of the association and the Department of Income Tax.
